2013 Back to School Fashion Trends for Less

Neon, glitter belts, and graphic tees are a few of the hottest trends this back to school season. What I love is that they are super easy to incorporate to new or existing wardrobes on a budget. These are my favorite trends this 2013 season that I adore as  popular BTS fashion trends for kids this Fall.

Accessorize your existing wardrobe

Adding accessories – like colorful glitter belts or neon socks are a great way to transform clothing from last year that still fits while also letting your kids feel excited about their back to school shopping and feel like they’ve got fresh new styles to wear that are on trend for the new school year. Kenzie loves adding any kind of accessory to an outfit – from bold headbands to sparkling belts, accessories are a great way to really “MAKE” an outfit while only spending an extra $3-$10.

Neon Colors are on trend

Anything neon is in. Pink, Green, Orange and Yellow. Adding pop color jeans or leggings to your child’s wardrobe is fun, youthful and very popular right now. If clothing already fits, but the kids are excited to incorporate the neon trend, buy some inexpensive neon socks from Walmart. Kids can even mismatch socks as that is also a popular new way to showcase individuality that is on trend and “cool”.

Graphic Tees Galore

For only $6 you can buy in style graphic tees for boys at Walmart that are totally “cool” for kids.  Graphic tees with superheroes are still very popular. You can find these DC Comic tees for a real bargain at $6 from Walmart.com or in store. Other popular character graphic tees this season for the boys include Angry Birds and Monsters University. This is a cool way to style up ordinary jeans and I recommend you layer a thermal under your son’s graphic tee as the weather cools this Fall. That’s what we do and Kyle loves it!

I can hardly believe school starts in less than 2 weeks! And little Kyle will be riding off on the bus this year as it’s his 1st year of Kindergarten. Crazy!

Check a clip from the series of Google + Hangouts sponsored by Walmart last week that showcases lots of inexpensive back to school fashions and you can tune in for our discussion on other ideas to save money while back to school shopping.

Another great tip that came up in our conversation from that some states offer Tax Free weekends for shopping. Amazing! Pennsylvania doesn’t seem to do this, but I found a list of states that do offer it while surfing the web.

States Offering a Tax Free Weekend (or Week) in 2013:

Alabama
Arkansas
Connecticut
Florida
Georgia
Iowa
