Wow! Scholastic literally created a day by day adventure for kids suddenly needing to dive into remote learning at home. Check out Scholastic Learn at Home here. You can find the age of your student and see all the options.

Don’t feel compelled to do every day or every activity. Instead, pick what you think will inspire your individual student. If you school currently is setting up a remote learning and cyber program for your kids, but you feel it isn’t as robust as you like this a fabulous option for parents to give 1 extra “enrichment” assignment.

I had my 6th grade son do the Escape from Alcatraz reading earlier this week. I didn’t give him extra work beyond just completing the reading but it was a super way to get him reading a non fiction text that interested him. He really enjoyed it! Today he chose his own “non-fiction” article to read and picked a reading about the chemistry behind sweets inĀ “Extreme Candy.”He loved this one too. Hooray!

The Amoeba Sisters on YouTube are unbelievably awesome. Lots of biology, ecology, and all kinds of great science videos! In a snippet these gals cover lessons on all the scientific topics you might want to teach or learn. From Photosynthesis to DNA replication and more! Great to both teach and illustrate lessons.

We love Nat Geo for Kids. Weird But True books are one of my kids favorite ways of absorbing cool and weird facts! Brain boosters, quizzes, videos and more! Animals, Native Americans, US States, Kids vs. Plastic, and the latest relevant current events, Nat Geo has your kids covered!

Khan Academy is FREE and literally has videos and entire curriculum course work for almost every class and topic imaginable. Lots of people love it for Math but truly Khan has it all. National Park Service

The beauty of the National Parks are truly a wonder. Maybe you can’t go visit Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon today, but check out these website for amazing National Park educator resources. Lots of distance learning materials and even the chance to chat with a Park Ranger!
