6 Books to Read before the First Day of Kindergarten

The 1st day of school. What a milestone. Take a peek at our list of 6 Books to Read before the First Day of Kindergarten to inspire your “back to school” reading with your little ones. I wrote this post when Kenzie was starting Kindergarten! These reads still hold true and this post has held the test of time! My kiddos are now in middle school and high school!  Unbelievable that I first curated this list 9 years ago! Wow! Time flies…..

Do you have these 6 Books to Read before the First Day of Kindergarten in your kiddo’s library?

Kyle loves this list too and says that teachers used to read them “First Day Jitters” in class on the first day of school all the way up until 4th grade! It’s always comforting to see a familiar book in class that you’ve read at home too!

I’ve kept my original text below for the memories about my daughter Kenzie embarking on the school bus for that milestone moment of starting Kindergarten.

Are any of our 6 Books to Read before the First Day of Kindergarten on your reading list yet?

I can barely believe that my oldest child, Kenzie will start Kindergarten on Monday. Impossible to believe that just 6 years ago I was super pregnant with her and awaiting the arrival of a baby girl and the start of my parenting adventure.

Kenzie is thrilled about starting school and has literally been counting down the days until she can ride off on the bus. It’s wonderful to see her enthusiasm and I hope she loves every second of it all.

We’ve been reading a bunch of cute stories as we gear up to school. Here’s a few cute ideas I found online, in my own library at home for the kids,  and from my BFF Allison, who now blogs at Better with a Book about just about every book for every situation.

6 Books to Read before the First Day of Kindergarten

Here’s 6 favorites to read before the 1st day of Kindergarten.  A few of these titles are also great for preschoolers – especially The Kissing Hand!

1. The Kissing Hand

We heart the Kissing Hand so much! This book is perfect for little ones leaving Mommy or Daddy for the first time. Kenzie and I do the kissing hand with each other anytime I travel overnight on a business trip or will be not be home to tuck her into bed at night.

  1. That`s a great list, thanks! I like reading so much, but as for writing, it was always challenging for me. When I need to write some college assignment, I always use help, that I find by reading reviews on Pick The Writer.
