100 Days of School Project: Rainbow of Skittles!

Check out our 100 Days of School Project: Rainbow of Skittles! Tomorrow is the 100th day of school for my 1st grader Kenzie. We had a glorious time this afternoon making this rainbow of 100 skittles for her 100 day project.

Do your kids do 100 day projects? It seems to be all the trend today but I don’t ever remember celebrating the 100th day of school or making a 100 day project as a kid.

Hooray! Take a peek at just how easy this 100 Days of School Project is to complete!

This is all you need for a Rainbow of Skittles 100 Day project. You could also use M&M’s too, but we love using Skittles as it easily showcases the colors of the Rainbow. ROY G. BIV for the win!

What do you think of our 100 Days of School Project: Rainbow of Skittles???

What Supplies You Need

Skittles, Adhesive dots, and Cotton Balls are my personal essentials! This list below outlines everything. The one item we recommend you do purchase – beyond candy – is some type of Adhesive Dots to stick on whatever “100” items your kiddo decides upon for their project!

Skittles

Adhesive Dots

Cotton Balls

Blue Construction Paper or Blue Card Stock paper ( I keep this deck of uniquely shaped bright color card stock paper in our craft closet ! It definitely comes in handy when kids surprise me with school projects!)

If it’s last minute and you are putting together a project on the fly, you can easily still do the Rainbow of Skittles by swapping other household items in for the above.

For instance, in lieu of blue paper, use white and have the kids color in blue with crayon to create the sky! Or color in white clouds at the end of your rainbow if you are low on cotton balls!

How many Skittles do you need?

1 bag is more than sufficient! Also, I highly recommend using these Scotch adhesive dots to connect your candy to the poster board.

Super sticky but also safe for the kids compared to a glue gun or crazy glue. These adhesive dots are BEYOND easy to use for even the littlest crafter or Kindergarten student!

Don’t forget cotton balls for clouds at the bottom of your rainbow. Isn’t this adorable?

Kenzie is so excited to take her creation to school tomorrow for the 100th day celebration. Last year she was sick on the 100th day and missed all the fun so her Rainbow of Skittles makes this year even sweeter.

Remember, if you don’t have items on this list in your own home you could swap things out — for instance use tissues for your clouds instead of cotton balls!

Yes it’s totally on trend for your Kindergarten, 1st graders, and even 2nd graders to do the “Dress Like a 100 Year Old.” This makes for a very entertaining day of school in the middle of winter !

It’s a silly and fun way to celebrate the 100 Days of School! My kiddos absolutely loved dressing up like a “Senior” and thought it was hilarious. Look at Kyle … adding wrinkles truly aged him like 85 years!
